Bob Vermillion, CEO and Founder of RMV Technology Group LLC, a NASA Industry Partner, is an invited speaker for the Electrostatics Society of America Annual Meeting, set to take place on June 14–17, 2026 in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The event is hosted by NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Electrostatics and Surface Physics Laboratory.
Vermillion’s white paper, “CubeSats Require ESD Qualification and Handling Protocols for Launch & Space Survivability” will be presented on June 15, the first working day of the conference to attendees from academia, industry, and government.
In this address, Vermillion, who is NASA’s ESD Technical Authority, will define mandatory criteria to mitigate risk and necessary steps to discharge electrostatic (ESD) integrity before exposure of field-induced model discharges during launch for small spacecraft survivability. Acceptable practices to safely stage, assemble, package, store and transport small spacecraft projects will be addressed. NASA-STD-8739.6B, Section 7, establishes the minimum requirements and effective guidance for ESD compliance in low RH and extreme environments on land, air, sea, and space for NASA. These practices are also equally critical for DoW, DOE, medical device, and energy technology sectors.
Vermillion, CPP, Fellow, is a Certified ESD & Product Safety Engineer-iNARTE and a subject matter expert in the mitigation of triboelectrification for space, lunar, and Mars surfaces. The uniquely designed iNARTE Aerospace & Defense ESD training platform was developed by the RMV leadership team in partnership with Exemplar Global, which is the parent company of iNARTE as well as a third-party certification body and member of the American Society of Quality (ASQ) family of companies.
