She has more than 20 years of experience in health and safety management system development and implementation and is an Exemplar Global-certified ISO 45001 lead auditor specializing in injury management and OHS management systems audits. In addition to her consulting work, Ellaline works with businesses as a provider for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) Health and Safety Excellence Program.

“Sharing ideas is essential for personal and professional growth as an auditor. Without new ideas and inspiration from others, it’s easy to sometimes fall into a rut,” she added.

Overall, Ellaline said her number one tip for auditors was to “be in the moment and be present” during audits.

“When faced with a bombardment of evidence from new clients, it’s important to take the time to organize your thoughts and approach first,” she continued.

“When I take this time and get into the right zone, I become more focused and direct. The client also picks up on this. As a result, they are more receptive and respectful during the audit process.”
